Flat Honing of a Heat Treated Titanium Part

The customer provides laser cut and heat-treated titanium parts with a thickness that varies by +/- 0.0025” from the nominal.  The parts are flat within 0.005”, parallel within 0.002”, and have a surface finish that measures 125 Ra.

Utilizing a dual lapping machine and free abrasive machining, we flat hone both sides of the parts to the specified thickness of +/- 0.0005”, flatness within +/- 0.0005”, parallelism within +/- 0.0005”, and a surface finish of 8 Ra or better.

The uniform part are then integrated into the customer’s automated manufacturing process.
